User Interface Design
CSUN's Web Migration
In order to improve accessibility, navigation and visual clarity following CSUN's rebrand, IntersectLA was tasked with helping the university relocate their web platforms from the Web1 system to a new Web2 system. Our goal was to ensure all information was migrated efficiently and effectively for each department within CSUN's campus.

Site Auditing
Auditing current sites was important for determining the future of the website. Important aspects included:
- Using a sitemap to map existing page navigation
- Developing a new sitemap proposal based on previous findings
- Meeting with faculty (department stakeholders) to collect information and present sitemap
High-Fidelity Wireframing
Once sitemaps were approved, wireframes were built and presented to our clients so they could get a feel for what the website would look like once live. Edits would be made and changed according to client's needs and preferences. After wireframe approval, we would move into building out the sites.
Development & Launch
Approved wireframes were then built using Drupal; all content, new and existing, would be imported into the new site as well. Clients would then be presented the site in a meeting with a short presentation of all content. Feedback could be left via Markup, which we would later use to make any changes.
Before the site's launch, quality assurance was conducted, checking for accessibility with the WAVE tool along with site optimization and content matching wireframe's design.
Outcome
Using the university's current brand system allowed us to develop a cohesive interface that was clean, accessible and branded. We plugged this interface into over 140 different websites across campus, making it easier to find relevant information.
Insight
Focusing less on the branding aspect of these sites and more on the functionality for others to use was a good way to explore my design knowledge. I appreciated learning more about accessibility and the user journey to benefit people on the other side of the screen.
